Kara was born and raised in Santa Monica, CA where she was fortunate at a young age to experience yoga classes taught by some of the world’s most renowned teachers. Her appreciation for yoga grew while she was over-exercising in college and realized she needed a Sunday ritual. She began to take yoga to unwind. After graduation, she moved to New York City, where bartending and acting brought anxiety and back pain. She started a home practice to stay balanced. In 2006, she left acting to study and practice yoga more and became certified in Vinyasa Flow by Stephanie Keach in Asheville, NC and Holistic Flow by Saul David Raye in Venice, CA. Her passion for healing also led to certification in both Thai Massage and Prenatal Yoga.
To her, yoga is the journey back to one’s own light and love. It’s a hard, beautiful and personal process that unites us all. Using pranayama, meditation, and asana, Kara gently guides her students to align and heal the body, mind and spirit. In her immense gratitude to Yoga Soup, she hopes to assist in bringing what yoga has given to her own life to the world around her.
