DJ Marcelino is a regular favorite with SB Dance Tribe and Ecstatic Dance San Luis Obispo. About his sessions he says: “I travel the globe – past, present, and future – divining in emotionally rich and spiritually expansive dance music that will invoke, uplift, and energize your body & spirit to move into awakening.

I play ‘international liberation dance music’ drawn from a very wide range of genres including African, Latin, Brazilian, Middle Eastern, Asian, Indian, Balkan, Dance Jazz, Electronica, Classical, Pop, and New-Age/Ambient: I incorporate it all to transport dancers to many beautiful places in one vast interconnected dance journey into self-awareness.

The Rhythms of Life – a Conscious Dance Journey with DJ Marcelino

If you have never been to a “Conscious Dance” event this is a perfect opportunity. Conscious Dance in its most basic definition is free-form movement/dance inspired by music, allowing our bodies to move freely without judgement or concern for the grace or beauty of the dance.

This is the dance you dance when nobody is watching. This dance is an inner/outer journey of moving meditation. It develops a direct body-spirit connection, allowing your body and inner guidance be your teacher. It is about being present to your own energy and discovering your own inner dance and expressing it to release stuck patterns in your body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

No dance experience is necessary. It is a perfect outlet for those who think they “can’t dance” and for experienced dancers as well. it is not a structured dance, it is also not a social dance. It is an environment without conversation or observers, where you can feel safe to explore how different musical rhythms transform the shape of your movements to awaken your inner spiritual journey.

Sometimes dance is lightly facilitated with invitations to explore specific movements, sometimes specific themes are offered in the musical selection, but always it is an open dance floor.
