David Segall

David Segall

David was introduced to Yoga as a voice and performing arts major at UCSB. After experiencing Yoga’s ability to bring greater awareness into the heart, freeing the body and the voice from undue tension and gripping, he began practicing regularly. His journey as a musician and songwriter led him to Los Angeles and Chicago, where he did his 200-hour Yoga teacher training at Yogaview, followed by a NASM certification in personal training. After facilitating several Yoga retreats in Costa Rica, the path brought him home to Santa Barbara, where he expanded his music roots and started teaching at Yoga Soup.
The guiding principle of David’s teaching style is loving care and concern for the well-being of every student/practitioner. His classes are designed to be a safe and inward-focused space for deep connection with our breath, body temple and being. He encourages students to approach their practices with compassion and Self-respect, while at the same time stepping beyond the comfort zone of familiarity with curiosity and mindfulness.
