Tuning into the elements of any foundation requires a curiosity of what lies beneath the surface. In the practice of yoga, we are constantly refining those elements to align inwardly and outwardly, reflecting the harmony of our beings. In the seeking of that harmony, we will journey into the fundamentals of:
B R E A T H I N G, S I T T I N G and S T A N D I N G
While these building blocks sound simple enough, they each have a profound impact upon our experience on and off the mat, and are often overlooked by even the most experienced yogis.
We will define, explore and refine:
– Ujjayi breathing and how it is reflected in vinyasa yoga with integrated movement and ease-filled flow.
– How to sit for meditation, pranayama and asana practice, including assessment of individual needs.
– Tadasana (Mountain Pose) and it’s role as the foundation of all standing postures
While this offering is open to all levels, it will speak to those who want to dive deep into the details and subtle aspects of optimal alignment. Beginning and experienced practitioners and teachers are welcome to have a seat, take a stand, and please breathe.
